This position requires compassion, an ability to work with children of all ages, attention to detail, a commitment to the highest quality work a self-starter with precise record keeping skills, computer knowledge in Microsoft Office (Word, and Excel). Must be able to function both independently and as part of a team.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Holding an Indonesian passport, must have a college degree/ teaching certification in Indonesian. Minimum two years experience in the same position or 5 years experience in related field, fluent English skills and computer literacy.

Working Relation with:

  • Children, teachers, staff and parents

Key areas of Responsibility:

  • Assists with library program and displays.
  • Assist staff and students in checking out/ in books.
  • Prepare, repair or recondition library materials.
  • Prepare library cards for borrowers.
  • Processes new books, with labels and barcodes
  • Choose stories to read to classes when they visit the library each week
  • Create activities for afterschool program
  • Open library time at recess and free time after lunch
  • Inventory books at the end of the year and work with the finance department to recoup payment for lost of missing books.
  • Ability to sort efficiently in alphabetic, numeric, or alphanumeric order and to develop a working understanding of the Dewey Decimal and order systems of library materials arrangement.

The Global Green Growth Institute is looking to hire an outstanding Operations Manager to support their program in Indonesia.


GGGI is dedicated to supporting developing and emerging countries to meet their own development and growth objectives by exploring and implementing green growth plans that simultaneously target key economic and environmental objectives. These include poverty reduction, job creation and social inclusion as well as mitigation and adaptation to climate change, biodiversity loss and energy and water security.


GGGI’s theory of change leads it to focus on three major outcomes:  adoption and implementation of rigorous green growth plans that form the core of national and provincial economic development strategies; research which builds a strong theoretical and empirical basis for green growth, while providing concrete options and guidance for policymakers; and public-private partnerships that strengthen incentives for the scaling of resource-efficient investment, innovation and practice as well as for the engagement of companies in the implementation of national and subnational green growth plans.


Reporting to the GGGI Country Manager in Indonesia, and part of the global Green Growth Planning and Implementation (GGP&I) team, you will be responsible for providing day to day management of the several components of work of the Indonesia team, and for coordinating the efforts of the individual component Program Managers and Program Officers.


You will be a key focal point within the team for the management of the Indonesia Program’s two current significant consulting contracts, and as a senior team member you will be responsible to facilitate engagement with key government counterparts  especially implementing ministries of each of the components of work. You will play a key role in driving the ‘hybrid’ teams of each component in achieving their deliverables and outputs in the most effective and efficient way within the project period.


You will monitor and evaluate the performance of team members and provide coaching and development support, as well as being a key point of advice and escalation for problem solving within the component teams.


All applicants must hold exemplary and relevant academic credentials, and ideally hold a post-graduate degree in a relevant subject from a leading academic institution. Individuals will also have substantial work experience and substantial working experience in a relevant field in Indonesia.

Other key skills and capabilities will include:
· Consulting contract management, project cycle management and project quality management experience, particularly in Indonesia and in the field of green growth, development. natural resource management and sustainability.
· Recognized leadership in developing and implementing economic development policies and strategies on the ground, including public administration to plan for and implement economic development policies and
projects
· Demonstrated capacity for strategic thinking, and facilitating in-depth and effective stakeholder dialogues both internally to support each ‘hybrid’ team as well as externally and consultations on multi-disciplinary issues and across sectors, while maintaining a strong sense of realism with regard to country conditions.
·  Demonstrated ability to garner support from a diverse range of stakeholders to ensure local ownership of the various analytical results of the assessments
· At least seven years experience in Indonesia developing and fostering strong relationships with key government institutions (for example, Coordinating Ministry for economic affairs, Ministry of National Development Planning, Ministry of Finance, etc);
· Flexibility, responsiveness, and ability to manage multiple activities to tight deadlines, and with demonstrated ability to lead and work in multidisciplinary teams; outstanding stakeholder engagement, client relationship, and consensus building skills
·  A track record of delivery of complex programmes, with multi-stakeholder management in Indonesia
·  Effective and efficient operational and organisational skills – project management and project coordination experience
· Ability to communicate complex economic, environmental and climate related issues in a clear and simple way to a diverse audience
· Multi-cultural literacy and easily adaptable
· Actively seeks and considers diverse ideas and approaches and ability to work as part of a team and in a start-up organisation
· Strong oral and written English is essential, fluency in Indonesian / Bahasa is highly desirable.

At present, Simavi works in 9 countries, with over 130 projects and a team of 43 staff. For its SHAW Programme in Indonesia, Simavi is re-launching the vacancy of a: 

Experienced Programme Officer
for the Sanitation, Hygiene and Water (SHAW) Programme, 
Yogyakarta, Indonesia
(Expected starting date: as soon as possible)

The SHAW Programme runs from April 2010 up to December 2014 and targets communities on the East-Indonesian islands of Biak, Timor, Flores, Sumba and Lombok as well as the national policy level. SHAW is an innovative, multi-stakeholder programme that implements at (sub-)district level the STBM strategy of the Government of Indonesia. SHAW works on improved behaviour towards sanitation and hygiene, leading to households, communities and schools that construct and use sanitation and hygiene facilities. Improved drinking water coverage is part of the SHAW Programme to support the hygiene behaviour change. 
Five Indonesian NGOs implement the programme under coordination by Simavi. By now, SHAW has established collaboration with international NGO’s, UNICEF, government structures ranging from village level to national level, private sector actors as well as the Netherlands Embassy in Indonesia.
STBM will be scaled-up in Indonesia and the SHAW Programme is at the forefront of the developments, which makes the SHAW Programme a pioneer in the approaches and lessons learnt. SHAW is focusing on sustainability of the achieved behaviour change after the programme, which includes the enabling environment of government structures, private sector and civil society organisations. SHAW is also giving attention to capacity strengthening of the SHAW NGO partners.
The vacancy has been launched in April 2012, but no suitable candidate was found. The vacancy is now re-launched as the temporary solution ends soon.

In general terms
You will work in the SHAW coordination team. Together with colleagues and consultants, you play an active role in supporting the programme implementation, monitor progress, provide technical assistance to partners and contribute to missions. You will report directly to the SHAW Programme Coordinator in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

Tasks
1. Support the coordination of the SHAW programme ;
2. Support the partner NGOs in implementation, monitoring and documentation ;
3. Support the efforts towards an enabling environment that safeguards sustainability of the achievements ;
4. Support and/or facilitate the learning and sharing of information among the programme actors and among the actors in the WASH sector in general ;
5. Monitor progress and performance of the SHAW programme on the  basis of reports and field visits ;
6. Ensure timely and quality reporting on the programme to the SHAW Programme Coordinator ;
7. Active and pro-active communication with Simavi headquarters in The Netherlands and the SHAW partners ; 
8. Organise assessments, technical missions and evaluations by external consultants ;
9. Initiate and manage relations with stakeholders (NGOs, consultants, government, private sector etc.) ;
10. Represent occasionally the SHAW Programme Coordinator in workshops and meetings.

Key skills and required experience
Simavi is looking for a candidate with a pro-active and reflective attitude, able to operate in a multi-cultural setting and who has the skills to guide others in a pioneering environment. The candidate must be a team-player. 
This position requires considerable experience in the Indonesian WASH sector working in the areas of programme management and strategy development. The Programme Officer should have sector experience at the local and national level. The applicant should be familiar with current developments, research, best practices and global policy direction in the WASH sector at large, and especially in the areas of sanitation (CLTS and social marketing approaches), hygiene promotion, school sanitation, environmental programming, drinking water and programme integration with health and education.

Job requirements
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant working experience in the field of international development cooperation and civil society processes ;
• Academic level, with knowledge and experience in the field of development cooperation, possible engineering and civil society ;
• Excellent communication skills in English as well as Bahasa Indonesia ;
• Sound knowledge of sanitation and hygiene promotion methods, as well as drinking water programmes ;
• Ability to question and challenge people in a constructive manner, but also to work with diplomacy and creative problem solving techniques when interests and opinions differ ;
• Demonstrated ability to set priorities, take initiatives, and get results in the framework of a strategy ;
• Excellent written and oral communication skills to convey complex and technical issues in a clear, concise manner ;

Period
The position is in principle for the period of the programme. Simavi as a policy initially offers a one-year contract, with the intention to extend the contract for the remaining period of the SHAW Programme. 
Simavi is looking for opportunities to continue its projects in Indonesia and in case of mutual satisfaction, the selected candidate will be considered for extension after the SHAW Programme.

Location
The programme officer is living in Yogyakarta and working in the Simavi office in Yogyakarta. However, frequent travel is required to the programme areas as well as to Jakarta to meet with government officials and other stakeholders.

General Description of task(s) and objectives to be achieved
 
On Monday, October 25, 2010, such the Mentawai Islands experienced an earthquake and tsunami, which caused loss and damages to the amount of 348,92 billion IDR, with the major impact on the productive economy. To support the Government of Indonesia’s efforts for recovery on the Mentawai Islands, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (UN-FAO), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the International Labour Organization (ILO) have formulated a joint livelihoods recovery programme under the guidance of the Office of the Resident Coordinator. 
 
The National Technical Advisor (Agriculture) will work in close collaboration with the Local Government and Liaison Officer, and shall be responsible for providing technical inputs relating to agricultural livelihoods recovery. He/she will be also responsible in ensuring effective delivery of FAO activities and ensure alignment with partnering UN agencies, government counterparts, donors, and other relevant stakeholders. 
 
Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative and under the direct supervision of the Operations Coordinator and the A-FAOR Programme, the National  Technical Advisor (Agriculture) will perform the below range of duties relating to the objectives of the FAO Mentawai Islands Recovery Programme:
 
Programme Coordination Level:
· Participate to develop, appraise, and supervise the technical aspects of FAO’sagricultural component of the programme. 
·Prepareand refine technical and agriculture components and technical assistance,evaluateneedassessments, contribute to project livelihoods analysis with agriculture base.
· Identify areas of weaknessand strengthin the technical and management capacities of the government and other stakeholders to implement FAO’scomponent in the overall livelihood recovery programme;
· Ensure all of FAO’s program activities occur in collaboration with local, district and provincial authorities where appropriate;
 
Field Activity Level:
· Review past FAOinterventions and strategies for the improvement and diversification of agricultural production taking into account the cropping calendars, agro-ecological conditions and market opportunities; in addition to farmer’s socio-culture and economic condition.
· Contribute to the FAO training and capacity development activities,including contribute to developing and delivering FAO trainings materials;
· Strengthen and develop farmer organizations and associations and support their formalization as producer associations;
· Make periodic visits to the sites where the project is operating to provide back-up support and gain first-hand appreciation of the achievements and challenges;
 
Reporting
· Prepare technical progress reports on all related matters concerning the implementation of the project describing achievements, constraints and performance to be submitted every quarter and to be consolidated into the overall programme progress report;
· Prepare other necessaryreports that will act asa tool to guide the work of FAOS’s activities and ensure compliance of FAO’s activities with overall Programme strategies;
· Prepare end of assignment report at his/her assignment period within two weeks upon his/her contract accomplished.
